Analyst predicts Nebraska football will get the over on six wins
Quite a bit of talk has centered around whether the Nebraska football team will get over six wins in Scott Frost’s first season. At least one analyst thinks so.
The Nebraska football team’s schedule is one of the toughest in the country. The team is coming off a 4-8 season.
Those are two reasons why most people don’t believe the Cornhuskers are going to have all that great a season. Six wins is about the top of what most people expect the Huskers to achieve.
There is at least one college football analyst that believes Nebraska is going to be better than most of the rest of the national media believes. 247Sports’ Barton Simmons is officially going to pick the “over” when it comes to the Huskers winning six games.
“I don’t get them to eight wins. I’ve got them at 7-5. I think Frost is too good not to figure out a way to get to seven. My seven, I include an upset over Michigan State. I include a win over Colorado, which is not a given. I include a win over Troy, which is not a given. I include a win over Purdue, which will be a tough game even though it’s at home.”
That upset against Michigan State has got to get Husker fans excited. When you consider how good the team was a year ago, and the quality of quarterback Brian Lewerke, that would certainly be a solid win.
It is still odd to see the Nebraska football team in a place where a win over Troy isn’t “a given.” I don’t happen to agree with Simmons there. Troy was very good last year, but they’re going to be breaking in a new quarterback. That record was also definitely propped up by a Sun Belt schedule.

Should the Huskers get to seven, or even eight wins, most would have to consider it a successful first year for Scott Frost and Nebraska football.
