While Jordy Tshimanga’s departure doesn’t hurt the Nebraska basketball team all that much this season, it could have a bit of a ripple effect. For one thing, Jordy was just a Junior.

The Huskers losing a big man for not only this season but next season as well means Tim Miles is going to have to step up his recruiting game when it comes to getting a man to get in the middle.

Unfortunately, getting an impact center for the Nebrasketball team was already something the head coach has fallen short of so far in his career in Lincoln. That includes losing out on JUCO big man Antun Maricevic.

Maricevic seemed to be almost a lock to come to Nebraska but Clemson got into the sweepstakes at the last minute and he picked the Tigers. The addition of Maricevic sure would have been a lifesaver right now.

At the moment, the biggest player on the Nebraska basketball roster is true-freshman Brady Heiman from Springfield, Nebraska. Copeland is the next tallest, standing at 6-9.

It would behoove Miles to see if he can’t swoop in and grab a JUCO transfer before the season starts. That’s obviously easier said than done in July.

It is imperative that moving forward, Miles once again look to add some size to the roster. The Big Ten has plenty of very talented big men and the Nebraska basketball team needs to find a way to counter them if they want to be the tournament contender many think they will be this year and in the future.
