Nebraska football: Husker players talk mentality makeover
The Nebraska football team has talked more than once about wanting to get a new attitude to go along with brand new results this coming season.
Since Scott Frost and the rest of his staff arrived in Lincoln, those surrounding the Nebraska football team have been talking about the need for a new attitude. This summer that talk has crystallized a bit.
Now, as the season creeps ever closer, more members of the team have started saying all the right things about an attitude adjustment. Brian Christopherson of 247Sports recently talked to Cornhuskers’ linebacker Luke Gifford who made it clear there is a different kind of buy in from the players this time around.
Late last week, Gifford talked about how the buy-in started in the winter and has just keep going into the summer. “I think the way we were doing in the winter, it was kind of surprising everybody. And now in the summer, it’s just kind of what we expect. We go in there and we attack everything we do.” The Husker said.
That goes along with what one of his teammate tweeted out a day before his comments. Much has been made about how bad the Cornhuskers’ defensive backfield was a year ago.
One of those members appears to have plenty of attitude and appears ready to get to work. Daishon Neal tweeted, “I think it’s cute that all these other schools really think they’re out working us this summer haha…”
The mentality of the Cornhuskers this summer has been an interesting thing to watch considering the team is coming off a 4-8 season. That swagger is both fun to see and something that is going to need to be backed up with play on the field.

For now, the Nebraska football team is absolutely walking the walk. They won’t be able to talk the talk until September 1.
