When it comes to Nebraska recruiting, opening day of the Husker season is important for a number of reasons.

Nebraska recruiting is only going to need to hit a second gear once the football season starts. It appears the Nebraska football team is getting ready to do just that, considering the latest confirmed visitor for the season’s opening Saturday.

Wandale Robinson, one of the best all-purpose backs in the 2019 class confirmed on Sunday that he will be heading to Lincoln for an official visit to see the Cornhuskers. While the Huskers already have a number of backs committed from the 2019 class, Robinson would be a feather in Scott Frost‘s cap.

Robinson took to Twitter to announce he would be in Lincoln on September 1. A few days earlier he also cut down the teams he’s looking at for the remainder of the recruiting cycle.

Unsurprisingly, the Nebraska football team made the cut. The other teams that made the cut mean that the Cornhuskers are going to have a steep hill to climb in order to get Robinson to become a Husker.

In addition to Nebraska, Robinson is still looking at Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio State and Purdue. There are more than a few surprises in that final six.

Purdue and Kentucky are certainly teams you don’t see going toe-to-toe with Michigan, Ohio State and Alabama. When it comes to the Huskers, they don’t even usually go against Kentucky and Purdue for commits.

Those who are following Nebraska recruiting know that getting a 4-star prospect who is the 4th ranked all-purpose back in the entire 2019 class is a big deal.  The Cornhuskers are attempting to go after some big fish when it comes to visitors on September 1. Robinson certainly fits that bill.
