When it comes to Nebraska recruiting and the 2020 class especially, it’s all about the guesswork.

Anyone following Nebraska recruiting can tell you that being a success in the field isn’t an exact science. There are times when kids will announce they really like a school only to change their minds seemingly in the blink of an eye.

There’s nothing wrong with that mind you. These kids are being asked to choose where they will be spending a good chunk of their young lives.

What you don’t see very often is what Lorando Johnson did on Sunday and Monday morning. The 4-star cornerback out of Lancaster, Texas took to Twitter Sunday evening to announce he had paired down his pick of schools to four.

That was especially surprising considering that he’s a member of the 2020 class and therefore has quite a long ways to go before he signs on the dotted line. On Monday morning, it appears someone explained to him exactly that.

The tweet announcing the four schools has been deleted and in its place, a tweet saying, “after long thought about having two more years left of high school football I’ve decided to no longer have a top four and open up to any and all colleges,” appeared.

Nebraska football fans can be happy that when he did have a top four, the Huskers were in it, along with TCU, Oklahoma State and Baylor. At the moment, that would seem to make the Cornhuskers a strong front-runner for what 247Sports composite ratings say is the 11th best cornerback in the entire 2020 class and the 12th best player in the state of Texas.

While Johnson is no longer cutting down the list, it’s apparent that he does have some teams he’s giving more thought to these days. Considering the events of the last 24 hours, it appears Nebraska recruiting experts are going to have to get ready for a wild ride.
