More accolades for Nebraska football’s dynamic duo.

If the Nebraska football team is going to have any success at all, it’s going to need big contributions from Stanley Morgan Jr and JD Spielman.

The wide receiver pair was just named to Athlon’s list of the Top 50 wide receivers in the country. That means the duo could be among the most productive in college football and Cornhusker fans aren’t the only ones that believe that.

According to Athlon, sophomore Spielman is the 17th best receiver in the entire nation. Morgan Jr is the seventh best.

The only other school that has two receivers that high in the list is Oklahoma. Yes, the Oklahoma Sooners team that made the college football playoffs last year.

The Huskers might be hard pressed to have a very good season in 2018 but it appears there are some weapons on the offensive side of the ball that could make the year at least a little better.

For Morgan, it’s just the latest accolade from the national media. The now senior had been thinking about going pro after head coach Mike Riley was fired.

In the end, new head coach Scott Frost and receivers coach Troy Walters were able to convince him to return. It’s very likely that’s the best recruiting job the coaching staff has done so far.

There were also some worries that Spielman was thinking about transferring. When the pair announced, within days of each other that they were coming back, it meant the Huskers were keeping the best offensive weapons the team has had in quite some time.

The question for 2018 now changes from “just how good can Stanley Morgan Jr.and JD Spielman be this season, to can the Nebraska football team use the wide receiver duo effectively enough that they might be able to have a better season than some expect?
