Jordan Westerkamp is not only one of the best wide receivers the Nebraska football team has ever had, he’s one of the most beloved among fans thanks to his ability to make some truly impressive catches.

Those catches include being on the receiving end of a hail mary pass that took the Cornhuskers over the Northwestern Wildcats. All of that love was outside of the 2015 season, which was easily his best at Nebraska and among the best in school history.

In 2015, Westerkamp hauled down 65 catches for 918 yards. He added five touchdowns to those numbers.

If there was one thing that was notable about Westerkamp’s season, it’s how much better it could have been had he had a little consistency. Jordan had games where he caught 11, nine and nine passes.

Westerkamp also had games where he caught one and two passes. Those seven touchdowns were spread out over seven games and he never had more than one score in a single contest.

Oddly, as is the case with several of the best individual seasons for Nebraska football wide receivers, this year was a good one for Westerkamp and a bad one for the Cornhuskers in general.

This was Mike Riley‘s first year as head coach and the team went 6-7 overall. That sixth win was thanks only to the Huskers making a bowl game despite posting a 5-7 regular season record and then winning a bowl game over UCLA.
