When talking about former Nebraska football stars that went on to play in the NFL, there aren’t many active these days. Quincy Enunwa is actually the only former Husker receiver that is both on an NFL team and has a catch in his professional career.
Enunwa showed what he could do in his short time at Nebraska, often taking advantage of the fact he was the tallest receiver on the field. He’s also one of the tallest receivers to play for the Cornhuskers.
He also happened to be a heck of a target for Husker quarterbacks. That was especially the case in 2013. That year, the star receiver hauled down 51 receptions for 753 yards.
The 14.8 yards per catch meant that all three of those stats were the best of his career. That’s one thing.
The really impressive career number was the number of touchdowns he managed to score. After entering 2013 with three career trips to the end zone, Enunwa scored 12 touchdowns through the air that season.
It was his numbers in 2013 that allowed Enunwa to get a shot at the NFL with the New York Jets. After no catches his rookie year, and 22 in his second, the receiver seemed to finally make a name for himself in the pros with 58 receptions in his third year. The former Nebraska football star was hurt all of last season but it appears that he’s established himself as a professional wide receiver. It likely all started with the 2013 performance.
