The Nebraska football team is still in the running for one of the best offensive linemen still on the board for the 2019 class.

While the Nebraska football team waits to see whether or not they made the cut with a four-star linebacker, they found out they made the Top 5 with another touted recruit.

The Cornhuskers are one of the five teams still in the running for offensive lineman Chris Akporoghene. The offensive tackle is considered a four-star prospect by Rivals and a three-star caliber player according to 247Sports composite rankings.

Alongside the Cornhuskers, Akporoghene named Texas, Oregon, Tennessee and Duke as his final five. While one of these teams is not like the other, it’s interesting to see a school like Duke still in the running against those other Power 5 teams.

Shortly after he announced who he was still looking at, he seemed to make it clear it’s going to be a little while before he makes a final decision. Talking to Rivals, the offensive tackle mentioned that he was planning a visit to Lincoln.

"“They just want me to see what they have to offer. They keep telling me it’s a special place up there and I have to go and see it for myself. It’s a new coaching staff and I like the energy they have”"

During that interview, he made a comment that quite a few other recruits have made recently. Akporoghene said he feels as though there is something special happening in Lincoln right now. He added having a chance to be a part of that is definitely a draw.

If you’re looking at a team that might be the front-runner, it appears it would be Oregon. The offensive tackle has been getting recruited by the Ducks since his sophomore year in high school. The good news, when it comes to Nebraska football fans is that the head coach has changed since the recruitment of Chris Akporoghene began.
