Nebraska football: 10 best seasons by a Husker running back
The running back, has been the key to the Nebraska football program since its inception. We bring you the 10 best seasons of a Huskers running back ever.
The Nebraska football team has a number of talented running backs on the roster. Will any of them put together the kinds of seasons that will go down as one of the best ever when the smoke clears?
That’s almost always the question when talking about the Huskers. Some of the best players in the history of college football have come through Lincoln.
The Cornhuskers’ offense has long led to great seasons on the ground. That makes it hard to say exactly who had the best individual seasons.
Despite the degree of difficulty, we’re taking up that task today. When looking at the best seasons ever, we are indeed looking at individual performances.
Some of these years will be coming alongside winning years that really stand out. Other seasons included eye-popping statistics despite the fact that the team as a whole had rather unimpressive years.
Most of the best seasons came in the last 50 years for obvious reasons. With more games, comes better total performances.
We’re not trying to grade on the curve, so guys who played more games are going to get more attention. If you disagree with this list, if you think there’s a running back that had a better season not on the list let us know.
Keep in mind when it comes to this list of the best seasons in Nebraska football history that we’re talking about running backs only. Jamal Lord and his 1,400 yards rushing at quarterback don’t make the list.
Neither does Eric Crouch and his Heisman campaign. Those seasons are bound to be on another list. Let us know where and who we missed on this list or if you think one season should have gone higher.
