Former Nebraska football defensive back Mo Seisay is going back to professional football.

Former Nebraska football defensive back Mo Seisay is officially a member of the CFL’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Seisay signed his contract on Wednesday afternoon and announced the signing on Twitter.

This development is another reminder that not making it to the NFL does not mean former Huskers have to give up football altogether. The defensive back can even hop on the phone and talk to former Cornhusker Jordan Westerkamp about that fact.

Westerkamp signed his own deal with the Toronto Argonauts earlier this year. Seisay could even talk to another former defensive star for the Huskers in Barron Miles.

Miles was inducted into the CFL Hall of Fame this past April. Seisay has a ways to go before he can start talking about that kind of accomplishment.

This will be the first season in the Great White North for the 27-year-old out of Virginia. He’s been working hard this spring to find himself a team, even working out at NU’s Pro Day in March.

So far, the cornerback has had just a cup of coffee in the NFL. He signed as an undrafted free agent before the 2014 season with the Detroit Lions.

In that season, he appeared in 13 games, recording seven total tackles. That season included an appearance in the Lions’ 24-20 playoff loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Despite seeing the field a decent amount in his one and only season in Detroit, he hasn’t been able to make it onto the field since 2014. The Pro Day in March was a way for Seisay to try and show what he could do and get at least an invite to an NFL training camp.

Next: Why did it take so long to ask Frank Solich back?

It appears that whatever shook out for the former Nebraska football star after that tryout, the best option was signing with the Blue Bombers. Those wanting to follow Mo Seisay’s career won’t have to wait long as his new team will kick off their regular season on June 14.
