It’s not clear just how hard the Nebraska football team chased the graduate transfer but it’s a moot point now as the former Buckeye has chosen his new team.

Joe Burrow won’t be following in his family’s foosteps. Despite having a whole host of Burrows who came to play for the Nebraska football team, the former Ohio State quarterback has decided to head to LSU.

The decision came down on Friday night as the signal caller made his announcement on his Twitter account. The timing of the announcement might have been a bit of a surprise, the school he chose really wasn’t.

Burrow had seemed to be favoring LSU over the last few days. He’d visited there and the Tigers are definitely in the market for a new quarterback.

The dual-threat QB should be able to soup up their offense a bit. Because he’s got two years left of eligibility, he’s a bit of a different story than most grad transfer cases.

That might have been one of the reasons the Cornhuskers and Burrow never seemed like a great fit. Had the Cornhuskers decided they had a need for him on their roster, it likely would have been for one season, before one of their young quarterbacks grew into the starting job.

It’s also seemed as if Nebraska had taken a peek at Burrow but decided to go in another direction considering how many offers to high school quarterbacks they’ve made over the last few weeks.

There is also the chance that Ohio State wouldn’t have even allowed their former star recruit to come to Lincoln. When the Buckeyes agreed to release him from his scholarship, they made it clear he was going to have to get special permission in order to transfer inside the Big Ten.

Considering Joe Burrow would have squared off against the Buckeyes this coming season, the Nebraska football team might have been out of the question. Now with LSU, Urban Meyer can rest easy that he likely won’t have to go up against his former player.
