The Nebraska football team is continuing its attempts to beef up the defensive line with a new offer to a talented prospect.

The Nebraska football program continued its attempts to beef up a defensive line that was a big part of the defensive problems the last few years. Towards that goal, the Cornhuskers offered California defensive end Drake Jackson on Sunday night.

Jackson announced the offer on his official Twitter feed. The Huskers are now the 12th team to officially become a suitor for the big defensive end, but it’s likely the attention is going to intensify soon.

Despite just 12 offers, Jackson has a four-star rating from 247Sports. That’s likely because almost all the schools that have shown interest in him are FBS Power 5 teams.

In addition to the Cornhuskers, Jackson has offers from USC, Arizona State, Arizona, UCLA, Washington, Arizona, Cal, BYU, Colorado, Illinois, Oregon, Utah, and Utah State.

That means of all the top schools, the only one that isn’t an Power 5 school is Utah State. The Aggies are an interesting addition to this list if only because they seem to be a pretty long shot.

Defensive end has been an interesting focus for the Huskers in the last few months. Defensive tackle, on the other hand hasn’t been ignored completely, but it also hasn’t been recruited anywhere near as hard.

Drake Jackson is considered the 356th best player in the entire 2019 class. He’s also the 44th best player in the entire state of California. He’s also the 37th best defensive end in this class.

If the Nebraska football team wants to try and make a real impression, it appears they are going to need to work extra hard. At the same time, the Cornhuskers have had good luck with Cally in the recent past. If Jackson isn’t someone who wants to stay close to home, the Huskers might have an edge as they are the only Big Ten team in on the defensive stud at the moment.
