Daniel Isom is an interesting case study because he’s shown what he can do in FBS and yet is, at the moment, heading to Iowa Western.

There isn’t any indication the Nebraska football team has designs on him just yet, but maybe they should. Husker running back Tre Bryant, who played against him in High School, recently put out a plea to find Isom a “new home.”

The defensive back started his college career with Northern Illinois and played extensively as a true freshman. He sat out the entire 2018 season and it appears that might play at least some role in why he left the Huskies.

In that freshman season, he had 39 tackles and six passes defended. Those are certainly numbers people should be paying attention to, especially because Northern Illinois’ defense has been very, very good lately.

Since he hasn’t laced up the pads for the Rievers yet, we don’t know what kind of numbers he could put up for Iowa Western. If Isom someday wants to play alongside Tre Bryant, it seems like making a stop in Council Bluffs could help.

The Nebraska football team should be keeping an eye on all the talent that is going through the Junior College program. Daniel Isom could eventually be one of the best of the bunch.
