Even if the Nebraska football team wanted to bring in grad transfer Joe Burrow, it appears as though Ohio State has roadblocked the arrival.
If the Nebraska football team plans on going after Joe Burrow, it looks like Ohio State has thrown up a roadblock. Reports are surfacing that the recent OSU grad transfer has been given permission to transfer almost everywhere.
The “almost” in this situation is any team in the Big Ten. According to Sean Callahan of Rivals.com, the Buckeyes have said Burrow cannot transfer in-conference without special permission.
While it’s expected this is mostly as a way to keep Burrow away from Michigan or Michigan State, the rule also includes teams like the Huskers.
Nebraska Cornhuskers Football
Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer isn’t stupid. Nebraska plays his team this year.
What kind of coup would it be for Scott Frost and company to come into that game basically knowing the Ohio State playbook? Considering that Burrow actually has two more years to play, he could also come to bite the Buckeyes in the butt for a couple of seasons.
If the Cornhuskers are planning on going after Burrow, there are some indications OSU could lift their restrictions. The fact that no one is sure could mean that he’ll look outside the conference for an easier transition.
There is also the fact that Frost is blessed with some good young talent. The Cornhuskers might not be a fit even if Meyer was willing to let him head to Lincoln.
The spring game showed that Tristan Gebbia and Adrian Martinez both have a decent grasp of the Nebraska football offense. Gebbia is a redshirt freshman and Martinez is a true freshman.

Bringing in a quarterback who has two more years to play might not be the best idea for the health of the program. If Frost disagrees then he’s got his work cut out for him.
