While it seems unlikely that Daniel Isom is going to be part of the Nebraska football team, that didn’t stop Tre Bryant from supporting the former NIU defensive back.

In an age where it seems like transfers are happening in the college sports world all the time, it’s interesting to see a Nebraska football player stand up and voice his support for someone from another team.

Tre Bryant did indeed voice his support for former Northern Illinois defensive back Daniel Isom. Isom and Bryant have a history together that apparently goes beyond the two teams playing against each other last year.

Both men played their high school ball in St. Louis, Missouri. While they attended different schools, it seems as though they formed a bond, likely the kind of bond that can indeed form when you go up against an opponent numerous times.

When Northern Illinois took on the Cornhuskers last year (and upset them in Lincoln), neither player was on the field. Tre Bryant playing against Northern Illinois might have made the difference.

The Cornhuskers’ running back injured his knee the week before against Oregon. Isom sat out the 2017 season for Northern Illinois.

Isom has since decided to transfer to Iowa Western. It’s here where Bryant got involved.

The Cornhuskers’ running back tweeted out, “Multiple starts as a True Freshman 3 Years of Eligibility Remaining Find him a new home!!”

Isom did get those multiple starts as a true freshman and looked like he was going to grow into something quite impressive. In his first year of college ball, he had a total of 39 tackles and six passes defended.

You gotta wonder if Bryant has talked to the Nebraska football coaches about giving Isom a look. With two years of eligibility left after transferring back to FBS, it would seem as though he could at least be someone to think about adding to the defensive backfield.
