Nebraska football’s roster number issues might be sorting themselves out as it appears that yet another Husker player has decided to leave.

It appears that the Nebraska football team is down, or will soon be down another player. Rumors have been circulating that offensive lineman Bryan Brokop has either left the program or is in the process of leaving.

We know this because Brokop has put “former Nebraska football player” on his Twitter account. It should be pointed out that he hasn’t made any tweet or announcement that he is departing.

Brokop was a three-star prospect out of Illinois in the 2016 class. He was originally recruited by Bo Pelini and company.

When Pelini was fired, Mike Riley and Mike Cavanaugh continued recruiting him and eventually won him over. At the time, that was a rather nice get.

The Cornhuskers managed to reel in Brokop despite competition from the likes of Arizona State, Cal, and Auburn. While the hopes were high for Brokop, it hasn’t really panned out for the offensive lineman.

Since arriving in Lincoln, he’s had problems even staying on the 105-man roster that suits up for home games. Talk in town had been that he was going to have problems doing that yet again this year based on spring practices.

It appears Brokop saw the writing on the wall. If he is indeed on his way out, it appears it is what’s best for all parties involved.

The Cornhuskers are a few bodies over the number of people they can have on their official roster. After Patrick O’Brien and Ben Miles announced they were transferring, the strain was lifted a bit.

The team is still going to need to find a way to have a bit more attrition if they want to get in under their limit. If Bryan Brokop is indeed on his way out, the Nebraska football team would need to shed just one or two more bodies.
