The Nebraska football team got some bad news on Wednesday morning. Offensive line tackle EJ Ndoma-Ogar announced he committed to Oklahoma.

Nebraska football is still in the afterglow of their spring game but that afterglow was broken a bit on Wednesday morning. The Huskers found out that offensive line target EJ Ndoma-Ogar has committed to Oklahoma.

Ndoma-Ogar announced his commitment on his official Twitter account. Hailing out of Texas, Ndoma-Ogar is a four-star guard according to 247Sports composite ratings.

One of the best prospects in the country, Ndoma-Ogar is the 10th best guard in the entire class and the 24th best player in the state of Texas. He’s a giant of a man standing at 6-3 and weighing in at 325 pounds.

In actuality, it’s not clear just how much of a shot the Cornhuskers had. The lineman picked the Sooners out of 39 total offers.

Most recruiting experts had the choice between Texas and Oklahoma. It’s possible the Huskers were hoping they could swoop in and steal the prospect from the Big 12 country.

The good news here is that the commit comes early enough in the recruiting cycle that there is a chance the Cornhuskers can sway the guard over the next couple of months.

The offensive line is absolutely a position of need for the Huskers, though so far they haven’t managed to secure a commitment from any of the linemen they’ve offered for this class.

With the number of visitors that came to the Nebraska football spring game, it seems they might be making some inroads in the coming days. There is at least one offensive lineman in Kadeem Telfort who is very interested in playing for the Huskers. So far, Scott Frost and company haven’t offered him a scholarship but it appears they have their backup plan in place in case they need it.
