One in-state prospect the Nebraska football team has been passing on is getting some serious attention from other FBS schools.

There has been quite a bit of focus on in-state targets like Nick Henrich since Scott Frost took over the Nebraska football team. Having said that, the new coaching staff might have missed one (so far) in a former Bellevue West defensive end.

Malcolm Lee went from high school football to Junior College football, but he didn’t stray far from his home. Lee is currently a member of the Iowa Western Reivers and a pretty big impact player at that.

In his first season with Iowa Western, Lee recorded 43 tackles and five sacks. That was apparently good enough to earn himself some attention from a growing number of FBS schools.

Iowa State was the first Power 5 team to ask Lee to come play for them. On Monday, he got a big-time offer from Louisville that seems to have officially landed himself on the radar.

Tuesday saw Lee get his second offer from an FBS school in two days. This time from Florida Atlantic.

The question is whether or not the defensive end might finally get a little attention from the Cornhuskers. Lee’s got the build that seems like he would fit in at Nebraska, even if he’s not going to be a starter.

Standing at 6-5 and 250 pounds, he’s an imposing force. Clearly there are plenty of FBS coaches who think he can fit in. Keep in mind Iowa State and Louisville arguably have more talent on their defensive squads than the Huskers do.

At the very least, both teams had better 2018 seasons. A player getting an offer shouldn’t really be the dictating factor for the Nebraska football team but considering this is a former in-state kid who is still just in Council Bluffs, it wouldn’t take a ton of effort to recruit him. The Cornhuskers should at least give Malcolm Lee another look.
