The new Nebraska football staff is using every tool at their disposal in their recruiting efforts. That includes a hall of fame quarterback.

When you’re a Nebraska football coach and you’re trying to help turn a program around, you use every tool you have. If one of those tools happens to be a Hall of Fame, former NFL quarterback, you’re absolutely going to take advantage.

Such was the case on Saturday during the Cornhuskers Spring Game. If the 86,000 fans that attended the Spring Game weren’t enough of a recruiting tool, then Kurt Warner was a nice bonus.

Warner was apparently on the sidelines for the game, talking to recruits and watching his son play. Kade Warner, a redshirt-freshman receiver for the Cornhuskers got his first action in front of the rabid fan base on Saturday.

The younger Warner put up some insane stats at his Arizona high school, but he ended up walking on last year for Mike Riley and his staff. It appears Kurt made a good decision to come watch his son’s team, considering Kade took a 57 pass to the end zone towards the end of the scrimmage.

When the former St. Louis Ram and Arizona Cardinal wasn’t cheering his son on, he was chatting up visitors like defensive back Jayden Russell. Russell posted a picture of the pair on his official Twitter account where he also talked positively about the trip.

According to 247Sports, Russell is a three-star safety and the fourth best player in the entire state of Kansas. Interestingly, he isn’t carrying an offer from the Huskers just yet.

It’s unlikely Kurt Warner was only talking to Russell, considering how many visitors the Cornhuskers had in Lincoln this weekend. Now we’ll just have to wait and see what the recruiting fallout for the weekend is for the Nebraska football team.
