The Nebraska football coaches used the Spring Game to show off the program to a top 2020 prospect.
The Nebraska football team had a game to play on Saturday. At least it was kind of a game.
Despite the pomp and circumstance that surrounded this year’s Spring Game, the coaching staff made time to do a little recruiting.
There were a number of big-time targets in Lincoln on Saturday but none of them might have been as big as Javian Hester. Shortly after the scrimmage, Hester received an official offer.
Blessed to say I have received my 4th offer from the University of Nebraska #GBR 🌽 pic.twitter.com/mXJP2VKTDw

I can only hope he was mightily impressed by what he saw on Saturday because what Hester brings to the table is certainly impressive.

The 6-4 prospect is an early four-star recruit according to 247Sports. He’s also the number two player in the entire state of Oklahoma.
That is why Hester is considered a heavy lean towards the Oklahoma Sooners at the present time. The Sooners are clearly going to want to make sure a receiver that has this kid’s measurables and talents is staying inside the state.
So far, Hester hasn’t gotten a ton of attention, but the schools that have noticed are some of the best in the country. In addition to the Cornhuskers’ offer, the receiver has also gotten a scholarship offer from Oklahoma, Ohio State and Arkansas.
It’s a bit surprising that the player that 247Sports believes is the 19th best receiver in the entire class hasn’t garnered a bit more attention. That’s obviously good news for the Cornhuskers, who can benefit from getting their foot in the door early.

When that foot includes getting him to take an unofficial visit to Lincoln on a day when more than 86,000 fans came to see a practice, it can only be a good thing. I think the Nebraska football team has made good inroads here, but Oklahoma is going to be hard to fend off.
