Nebraska football: Is Joe Burrows still a grad transfer option?
The Nebraska football team lost a competitor for the starting spot last week. Might Ohio State’s Joe Burrows fill the hole as a grad transfer?
Now that Nebraska football is looking for another quarterback to fill the roster, it’s time to look at Joe Burrow again. The Ohio State quarterback is currently busy competing for the Buckeyes’ starting job but he’s not the odds on favorite to win it.
OSU just played their spring game this weekend and after the game, Burrow made some comments that seemed to insinuate he’d be moving on if he doesn’t win the job.
“I came here to play. I didn’t come here to sit on the bench for four years, and I know I’m a pretty darn good quarterback,” Burrow said Saturday according to Land of 10 when he was asked if he needs to be named the starter in order to stay at Ohio State. “And I want to play somewhere.”

The Cornhuskers have been dipping their toe in the grad transfer waters these days. They had reportedly been going after Arizona grad transfer Brandon Dawkins.
Dawkins recently decided he was headed to Indiana. That leaves very few really good mobile quarterback grad transfers on the market.
In fact, the market these days is largely whoever enters it next. Burrow hasn’t said he is definitely going to transfer, it just seems like the most likely outcome.
The big question, of course, is whether or not Burrow would want to take a chance on the Cornhuskers. The Huskers seem to be pretty happy looking at their young guys.
Adrian Martinez is, at the moment the quarterback of the future but there are plenty who would love him to be the quarterback of the present as well. Tristan Gebbia has been getting quite a bit of talk as someone who is playing well and learning the offense.
Gebbia, a redshirt freshman and Martinez, a true freshman have plenty of time to duke it out. If Burrow becomes available, it seems likely that Frost wouldn’t mind giving him a spin for a season. The big question is whether Joe Burrow would consider the Nebraska football team.
