Nebraska football player Tyjon Lindsey didn’t plan to come to the Huskers but now everything has worked out better than he could have hoped.

The Nebraska football team has taken a weird and winding path to where it is as a program right now. There was a time when it didn’t seem likely that Scott Frost was going to end up back here.

There was a time when Tyjon Lindsey didn’t think he’d get to play for him. It turns out both things have now happened and the Cornhuskers’ wide receiver couldn’t be happier.

It turns out, in fact, that Lindsey feels as if he’s living a “dream come true” these days. It might come as a bit of a surprise to Husker fans that the wide receiver would be that excited about playing for a coach who arrived a year after the player did.

That’s part of the long and winding path. It turns out Lindsey has known Frost longer than quite a few of the other players on this roster.

Lindsey told the media on Saturday that he was absolutely planning on going to Oregon and joining the Ducks. He was recruited by Frost when Scott was the offensive coordinator.

The receiver desperately wanted to go where Frost was coaching, right up until he went to UCF. That departure was a big win for Mike Riley because he was able to lure Lindsey to Lincoln.

It’s a safe bet the receiver didn’t ever believe things would turn out the way they have. It appears he couldn’t be happier.

That’s good news for fans in Lincoln. It’s yet another story about the kind of loyalty Scott Frost breeds.

Even players that hadn’t played for Frost wanted to do so, so badly that they think it’s a dream come true when they do.

Tyjon Lindsey isn’t someone who is in love with the history of Nebraska football, even if he’s in love with the program now. This is a man dedicated to his head coach in a way we haven’t seen since … well, probably since Tom Osborne.
