One running back target the Nebraska football team would love to get their hands on is a free agent again after decommitting from the Oklahoma Sooners.

While Nebraska football is looking to offer a ton of new prospects this week, it appears an older target is back on the market. Running back Isaiah Spiller announced on Wednesday evening that he was officially decommitting from the Oklahoma Sooners.

The news quickly spread that Spiller was untethered once again, in large part because he’s one of the best backs in the entire 2019 class. He is, in fact, the second best back in the entire class, according to 247Sports.

Spiller is also the 24th best player in the entire state of Texas and considered the 180th in the entire 2019 class. While he had been considered a pretty safe bet to land with the sooners, his recent announcement has 247 thinking he might be staying in his home state instead.

It appears Texas A&M is the front runner for Spiller’s services these days. With 15 teams that have offered the speedy back, it’s hard to tell exactly what made him decide to reopen his recruitment.

The Huskers are certainly in the market for another running back in the 2019 class. They have offered a number of backs in this class and few of them have the measurables of Spiller.

At the same time, the players announced he still had a soft spot in his heart for the Sooners. While he might not be committed to Oklahoma at the moment, it doesn’t appear as though he’s entirely gone.

If the Nebraska football team can indeed get a foot in the door, this would absolutely be a bit of a coup. The Cornhuskers went head to head last year on a talented running back with OU and lost that battle.
