Nebraska football target Jordan Johnson got yet another FBS offer.

While most of the focus has been paid to the Nebraska football team’s efforts on the 2019 class, there is plenty of reason to pay attention to the 2020 class as well. It appears old foes of the Cornhuskers agree on this score.

Wide receiver Jordan Johnson, who stands to be one of the most hotly contested prospects in the 2020 class just picked up another offer. This time, the offer is from old Cornhuskers’ conference foe Missouri.

The Tigers are the eighth team to give Johnson an offer. Perhaps the most interesting thing about that offer is that considering the receiver is from St. Louis, people might have expected Missouri to be quicker on the draw.

When it comes to teams making offers to their top in-state targets, they are usually among the first. They need to be able to get their foot in the door plenty early, especially when talking about players that are highly sought after by schools from outside the state.

Perhaps the lateness of the offer is why 247Sports has Johnson as being a heavy Notre Dame lean. In fact, it appears Notre Dame and Arkansas are currently the top two schools for Johnson.

The good news for the Cornhuskers is that Johnson getting an offer from Missouri this late in the game could play well for them. If they can find a way to steal him away from Notre Dame, it doesn’t appear they are going to need to worry about Missouri at this point.

On the other hand, the Nebraska football team was likely hoping Missouri would stay out of the hunt altogether. The lateness of the offer could have something to do with the Tigers’ staff changes. There is still plenty of time to lure Johnson if they can find the right in considering he’s a member of the 2020 class.
