The Nebraska football team got yet another obstacle in its way in its pursuit of Omaha Burke star Nick Henrich.

While the Nebraska football team got a commit from one in-state player this week, there’s another that might be a bigger target. Omaha Burke standout Nick Henrich is looking like one of the more hyped players in the state in quite some time.

The Cornhuskers and the brand new coaching staff is far from the only ones to think that. Henrich has an official offer from the Huskers but he hasn’t pulled the trigger for Scott Frost and company just yet.

Part of the reason he hasn’t yet committed is because he’s getting offers from one big-time program after another. On Monday, Henrich got yet another offer, this time from a relatively new rival for the Cornhuskers.

The new offer for the Omaha Burke superstar comes from the Oregon Ducks. That makes 17 different schools that have offered the linebacker.

With that number of big-time schools interested, the only surprise is that he’s still considered only a 3-star prospect. That might have something to do with the big recruiting services not being entirely sold on the talent base that comes out of Nebraska.

It might be time for those services to rethink their approach to Nebraska. Teams like Notre Dame, Penn State and Texas A&M have all come calling for Henrich. Considering it’s only March and he already has 18 offers, it’s a safe bet that there are going to be many more Power 5 conference teams come calling.

Just what the Nebraska football team is going to have to do to lock Nick Henrich down is not yet known. There has been some talk that he’s a lean towards the Fighting Irish. Whether that is truly the case is something that will be playing out over the course of the summer and fall.
