The Nebraska football team has some new competition for a defensive end from Colorado. Isaac Townsend has just received a new offer from Virginia.

The Nebraska football team clearly knows it has its work cut out for it when it comes to luring some of its top targets to Lincoln. Late last week, the team gained more competition for one of its defensive end targets.

Isaac Townsend announced on Twitter that Virginia was the latest school to offer him. Townsend, who hails from Arvada, Colorado appears to be gaining the attention of more schools as he is now up to five FBS offers.

There is very little mystery as to why the teams going after Townsend are only growing in number. Standing at 6-7 and weighing in at 235, he’s got himself quite the defensive end body. Rivals has him as the third best player in the entire state.

That rating comes despite the fact that he’s only got three stars so far.  While he is not getting as much attention as he probably should he is getting nothing but Power 5 teams looking at him.

In addition to the Cornhuskers and the Virginia Cavaliers, the Iowa State Cyclones, Washington Huskies and Kansas State Wildcats have all offered Townsend a scholarship.

The big question now is just when the defensive end might start thinking about announcing when he’s going to commit. The Nebraska football team would seem to still have a very good shot at landing this player.

Isaac Townsend is exactly the type of player the Huskers need to add to their 2019 class. That should lead to the coaching staff turning up the heat and putting a full court press on the prospect.
