The Nebraska football team has a ton of new talent, who will play right away?

Having been here just a few months, the new Nebraska football staff has done a heck of a job turning over the roster. Unlike Mike Riley, who tried to make Bo Pelini’s players fit his system, Frost wants players from the outset who can run the spread.

That has led to a class of players who might get chances to play earlier than people expect. There are a number of different players that are going to see the field in 2018, skipping their redshirt seasons.

There are also plenty of players coming in that don’t have to get a redshirt in order to be ready for big time college football. The Husker staff went out and got a nice mix of talented JUCO players as well as freshmen that might be able to set foot on the field come September.

Some of the players might be forced into action before the coaches would normally like. Scott Frost brings an uptempo spread offense that will be difficult for some of Mike Riley’s players to adapt to.

The offensive change is likely the biggest reason Tanner Lee decided to head to the NFL early. The same might be said for Nick Gates.

Despite very few graduations, there are going to be some gaps in the roster. Some of those gaps will be filled by veterans that were here already.

Other gaps are going to be filled by players Cornhusker fans are going to have to get accustomed to quickly. So which of the newcomers are going to be seeing significant time for the Nebraska football team right off the bat? Probably more than you are expecting to see when the inaugural Scott Frost season kicks off.
