Former Nebraska football commit Joshua Moore chose his new school on Sunday. Moore had been a huge get for the Huskers who left during Riley’s departure.

Back when Mike Riley was the head coach of the Nebraska football team, Joshua Moore was one of the biggest gets of the 2018 class. On Sunday night, the four-star wide receiver announced he was headed to Texas.

Moore was also one of the biggest losses of the Mike Riley era. While the 2017 season was spiraling out of control, the young player was one of those who saw the writing on the wall.

Knowing that the coaches he had struck up a relationship with were likely out the door, he first made sure Cornhusker fans knew he was going to be sticking around no matter what. Once Riley and his staff were let go though, Moore started to realize Lincoln wasn’t that attractive to him anymore.

On December 10, he officially decommitted. According to Moore, the new staff did make overtures to try and get him back.

Once he had cut the cord, it appears he knew Nebraska wasn’t going to be where he ended up. Since that decommit, he was courted by some of the best in the college football world.

In the end, it looked as though the race was between Florida State, Oregon or Texas. As Rivals points out, he actually had a visit to the Ducks this weekend.

He ended up canceling that visit and picked the Longhorns instead.

“When I took my [official visit] to Texas, I just knew that was the place to be simply because I felt more comfortable there,” he told Rivals. “Not just because of the coaches but because of the university itself and the players that I will be with for the next three-to-four years. They made me feel at home, as if I was already on the team and I didn’t get that anywhere else.”

This wasn’t a player the Nebraska football team was counting on coming here for quite a while now. It will be interesting to see what the trajectory of Joshua Moore’s career is now.
