Nebraska football: Husker target impending announcement might be bad news
Nebraska football target Mike Barrett is going to announce his commitment on Tuesday night. That might not be good for the Huskers.
One of the Nebraska football team’s 2018 targets, Mike Barrett won’t be a free agent after tonight. The quarterback, who is considered one of the top targets in Georgia announced he will be committing Tuesday night.
Barrett, who is talented enough to be listed as an “athlete” by Rivals, immediately set the Twitter-sphere buzzing. That buzz might be bad news for the Huskers barring a big surprise.
The Valdosta, Georgia player is scheduled to visit Lincoln on February 2. He’s already visited Michigan in December and Georgia Tech earlier this month.
While Barrett wouldn’t even be the only Husker target in this class that committed sight unseen, it seems unlikely in this instance. 247Sports has Barrett as a heavy lean towards Michigan.

The site also believes there’s an outside chance Georgia Tech could be getting the athlete, but the Huskers appear to be on the outside looking in at this point.
The good news is, Scott Frost and company have been doing recruiting the right way. The staff hhasbuilt in redundancies in their approach so that if they lose out on a player, there’s another with similar skills to take his place.
The Cornhuskers’ class is also getting a bit full, after the recent commitment of Braxton Clark. The Nebraska football team is expected to take 22 or 23 players at most in the 2018 class.
Since the team is sitting at 19 now, there’s little room in this class with quite a few big name players still looking the Huskers’ way.
