The Nebraska football team has new competition for defensive back recruit Taiyon Palmer.

One of the top targets in the defensive backfield for the Nebraska football team has seen a swath of new offers the last couple of days. Taiyon Palmer is fresh off a visit to Lincoln last weekend.

It appears his visit has inspired some new schools to make it clear they’d like if he came play for them instead. On Wednesday, the three-star defensive back received offers from California, Georgia Tech, and Florida.

On Wednesday, the offers continued to roll in as Maryland joined the fray. These schools join a growing list that already included Clemson, Arkansas and Notre Dame.

Palmer had been a commit to Duke early on and it appears that once he decided to become a free agent again, major programs became very interested. It makes sense that they would be interested considering his ability to drop into coverage, and drop the boom when he’s helping in run support.

The Georgia-based defensive back is currently ranked as the 50th best DB in the 2018 class and the 47th best player overall in the state. For now, Palmer has not said when he plans to announce a commitment.

Considering the schools that are now after him, this is one that could go down to signing day. It does appear he enjoyed his visit to the Huskers.

Earlier in the cycle, Taiyon Palmer had a visit to Vanderbilt and he’s slated to visit North Carolina State this coming weekend. It doesn’t appear the Nebraska football target has plans to visit schools beyond that.
