The Nebraska football team could be getting another commit in the coming days in the form of Miles Jones. Jones decommitted from Vanderbilt on Tuesday.

The Nebraska football team has been having a pretty good Tuesday night. Just minutes after news broke that the Huskers had gained a new commit, another target became a free agent.

Athlete Miles Jones announced on Tuesday night he was no longer committed to Vanderbilt. Jones is fresh off an official visit with Nebraska. The Florida based four-star player’s announcement brought a bit of intrigue thanks to a few other tweets that came shortly after his announcement.

First, there was the online publication SEC Country, which claimed Jones had announced he was leaving Vandy and had committed to the Huskers. The problem is that while he did announce he was a free agent, he didn’t say anything about committing to Nebraska.

That could be dismissed as a weird kind of misunderstanding or typo, except of the second tweet. Current Huskers commit CJ Smith took to Twitter soon after.

Smith quoted Jones’ tweet and then said “Cornhuskers move in silence.” The tweet was accompanied by the hashtag #Flobraska.

That would seem to indicate that Jones might already be a silent commit to the Huskers. Miles himself isn’t talking, having only said that he isn’t giving interviews and asked that people respect his decision not to go to Vanderbilt.

It makes sense he might not announce in the same breath that he’s a Husker. The question now is whether this really was a couple of people jumping the gun a bit, or if they know something.

Even if Miles Jones isn’t a commit to the Nebraska football team at the moment, the athlete being back on the market is good news for the Huskers. In addition to Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, Georgia and Wisconsin have offered.
