The Nebraska football team got another linebacker in Ole Miss transfer Breon Dixon on Sunday.

The Nebraska football team got some more defensive help on Sunday morning in the form of Ole Miss transfer Breon Dixon. Dixon had seemed to be a heavy Husker lean since he announced he was taking a visit but he made it official this weekend.

The announcement is a big one for a lot of different reasons. The first reason being Dixon was known as one of the top defensive recruits in the 2017 class.

He was good enough that he started several games as a true freshman for Ole Miss. He was also good enough that the Georgia Bulldogs were going hard after him.

Dixon was a commit to Georgia before he signed with the Rebels. He’s also a big one because he’s fast and versatile.

While he played defensive back for Ole Miss this season, the Huskers are looking at him as more of a linebacker. Making moves like that, as long as he doesn’t bulk up too much means the team is going to have speed in its linebacker corps they haven’t seen for a while.

The other big win is that Nebraska has now beaten out Wisconsin for two defensive talents since Scott Frost arrived in Lincoln. Dixon was considered a lock to the Badgers before Nebraska entered the picture.

The big question mark is just when the defender is going to be eligible. Right now, he’d have to sit out a year, as is the norm in college football. Dixon and the Huskers hope that the NCAA will give him a waiver, thanks to the truly despicable things the Ole Miss coaches were doing.

A teammate at Ole Miss, quarterback Shea Patterson is transferring to Michigan. He’s expected to get a waiver and it seems likely he’ll blaze the path towards Breon Dixon getting a chance to play for the Nebraska football team next season.
