Nebraska football: Huskers offer top ranked defensive back target
The Nebraska football team continues its search for top-notch defensive backs by offering Massachusetts defensive back Lewis Cine.
On Thursday night, four-star defensive back Lewis Cine reported he had received an offer from the Nebraska football team. The offer continues what has been a long and deep search for players that can man the defensive backfield in the coming years.
Cine is a high profile recruit that will be hard to pry away from other Power 5 schools that have been in on him longer. The Huskers clearly aren’t shying away from the hard work it would take to lure him.
The good news is that Cine is a member of the 2019 class, meaning they’ll have a little time to get in his good graces. Should they manage to do that, they’re going to have to fight off some Big Ten brethren.

247Sports predicts that his top three schools right now are Penn State, Wisconsin, and Michigan. He’s also been heavily pursued by Oklahoma and the Florida schools.
That site has him ranked as the best player in the state of Massachusetts and the 35th ranked player in the entire 2019 class. With those numbers, it’s not a wonder why the Huskers are jumping on the bandwagon.
Cine has been quite a few offers in recent months. In December, National Championship game runner-up Georgia issued an offer on the same day as Ole Miss.
Looking at his film, it’s no surprise he’s so highly touted. Lewis Cine appears to be a defensive back that can not only drop back into coverage but is also quite good at stopping the run.
The Nebraska football team is clearly interested in the full package that is this prospect. As of now, there doesn’t appear to be any talk of an official visit or real gauge on just how much of a shot the Huskers have.
