Former Nebraska football star Aaron Taylor is one of 13 new inductees getting into the College Football Hall of Fame.

Nebraska football didn’t have much to celebrate on the field in 2017. Off the field, there has actually been quite a bit to get excited about. We can now add the news about Aaron Taylor to that growing list.

The College Football Hall of Fame announced on Monday morning that Taylor, an offensive lineman during the Husker glory days, was officially inducted. Taylor, who won the 1997 Outland Trophy is one of 13 making it in this year.

This new class has 10 former All-Americans and three coaches who had outstanding careers. This group of 13 was whittled down from a much larger pool that included as many as 75 first team All-Americans.

Taylor is the 18th player that has been inducted into this hall of fame. In total, Nebraska has 24 members thanks to the addition of six coaches.

Taylor is the first Husker inducted since Trev Alberts was enshrined in 2015. He’s the sixth Cornhusker to be inducted in the 2000’s.

The former offensive lineman will join Alberts, Tommie Frazier, Will Shields, Grant Wistrom and Mike Rozier as Huskers inducted since the turn of the century. All 13 members of the 2018 class are set to be officially entered into the Hall of Fame at a ceremony taking place this coming December.

Aaron Taylor not only won the Outland Trophy in 1997 but he was instrumental in helping the Nebraska football team go 13-0 and win the National Championship. That was incidentally the same team that Scott Frost, the current Huskers head coach was the starting quarterback.
