Drew Barker would bring the Nebraska football team a guy who has started against the best of the best.

While Drew Barker wasn’t the starter in 2017, he’s got enough starts in the SEC under his belt that he might be an asset in that regard. Barker actually came into 2016 as the starter but an injury ended his season.

His numbers were never great when Barker did manage to start as a whole, but there are some things that are attractive enough to raise some eyebrows. Those numbers include a heck of a performance against Southern Miss. in the 2016 season opener.

While the Wildcats lost to the Golden Eagles 44-35, Barker had himself a game. The Kentucky quarterback completed 15 of 24 passes for a whopping 324 yards and four touchdowns.

His performance the following week was nearly as positive. Against the Florida Gators, he completed just 2 of 10 passes for 10 yards. He added three interceptions.

While you’re not wrong to look at those numbers and wonder “why in the world would we want him?” Keep in mind he was playing for a pretty bad Kentucky team.

Over the course of his career for Kentucky (parts of three different seasons) he’s completed 57 of 113 passes for 747 yards and five touchdowns compared to eight interceptions. Those numbers won’t make anyone salivate over Drew Barker but the Nebraska football team might decide they can work with him.
