Maliek Collins leads former defensive Nebraska football stars

Unfortunately, there just weren’t all that many former Nebraska football Blackshirts that made a real impact in week 16. Maliek Collins likely had the best game of the bunch.

Collins recorded three tackles and played most of the game (77 percent of snaps) for his Dallas Cowboys. Unfortunately, Dallas lost their Christmas Eve game to the Seattle Seahawks.

That loss puts the Cowboys at 8-7. That’s quite a dropoff from last year’s record and the loss officially eliminated Dallas from the playoff hunt.

Ndamukong Suh

Ndamukong Suh’s Dolphins were eliminated from the playoff chase a while ago. Perhaps that’s why a player that’s normally pretty dominant recorded exactly one quarterback hurry. That’s it for his stats in week 16.

Zaire Anderson

Anderson’s Broncos are also playing out the streak. The former Husker linebacker has seen the field sporadically this season. In week 16, he played quite a bit of special teams but only three plays on defense.

Nate Gerry

Gerry has been moved from safety to linebacker for the Philadelphia Eagles. He’s heading to the playoffs with the rest of his team after another win. Gerry didn’t record a tackle, but he did down a punt on special teams.

Prince Amukamara

Prince Amukamara has been playing pretty well as the starting cornerback in another lost season for the Chicago Bears. On Sunday, he recorded two tackles and recovered a fumble in a rare win for the Bears. They beat the lowly Browns 20-3, improving their record to 5-10.

Lavonte David

Poor Lavonte David. He’s put in another stellar season on what is yet another bad one for the Tampa Bay Bucs. Tampa was on the cusp of the playoffs last year. They’re 4-11 this season. David started at linebacker once again and the former Nebraska football all-world player recorded 11 tackles in his teams 22-19 loss to Carolina.
