The Nebraska football team is going to have to wait a bit longer before it finds out if Cam Jones is going to be a Cornhusker.

The Nebraska football team is hoping to get as many targets as possible signing on December 20. While there are expected to be quite a few signees on Wednesday, Cam Jones won’t be among them.

The four-star defensive back out of Texas announced on his official Twitter account that he isn’t going to be doing the deed just yet. He didn’t say whether he might eventually sign during the signing period, but added he never intended to sign on Wednesday.

The fact that he never intended to end his recruiting this early seems to indicate that he isn’t going to sign until February. While some Husker fans might wonder if that means Nebraska has lost out, it could simply mean he’s legitimately torn.

Those looking to read the tea leaves might notice his profile pic is still Jones sporting a Husker uniform. Fans are likely going to be expecting all commits to sign during the early period.

Just because there is the ability to get everything done and over with, doesn’t mean every player is going to do it. The big decision is one some have to let marinate a bit longer.

Even without Cam Jones, the Nebraska football program is hoping to have a big Wednesday. Quarterback Adrian Martinez is just one of a handful of players that have said they will be signing on December 20. That’s when we’ll get our first real feel for what Scott Frost’s first class is going to look like.
