The Nebraska football team keeps getting accolades for its hiring of Scott Frost.
Nebraska football fans know that the hiring of Scott Frost was a good one. It’s still nice to see the national media echoing that emotion.
Sports Illustrated recently released it’s coaching hire grades and the Huskers’ nabbing of Frost made the top grade. The organization graded out all the hires this season on five different criteria.
Those criteria are Splash Quotient, Geography, Stylistic fit, Execution, and Instant impact. When looking at all of those criteria, Sports Illustrated decided that the Huskers managed to get a 4.6 out of 5.

When looking at the grades individually, Frost earned a perfect score of 5 in Splash quotient, Execution, and Instant Impact. Frost garnered a four in Geography and Stylistic Fit.
Of those grades, Stylistic Fit is the one that stands out because that might be the one thing that hinders the transition from 4-8 to what Husker fans expect. While the team is going to be used to putting the ball in the air, they aren’t going to be used to running the spread.
At the moment, none of the current Cornhuskers quarterbacks are really suited for Frost’s offense. The recent commitment of four-star quarterback Adrian Martinez is the beginning of fixing that for the future, but next year could be interesting.
At the same time, the Cornhuskers have a returning receiver corps that could thrive in the new offense. The defense can only get better.
Two interesting tidbits from the article is that Frost narrowly beat out his old boss Chip Kelly who earned a 4.4 for his hiring at UCLA. The grade that brought Kelly’s rating down a bit was a three in the instant impact category.
Looking over the entire list, it turns out Nebraska football’s Scott Frost is the only one that got a four or higher in every category. Now we’ll just have to hope he can have similar success on the field as he’s had in the media.
