Nebraska football: Huskers Commit, target visiting Tennessee
Nebraska football could use a back like Greg Bell
When the Nebraska football team first offered Arizona Western running back Greg Bell, it seemed like he might be a Husker shoo-in. As the week has gone on, it’s clear the back is enjoying the recruiting process but is also playing it close to the vest.
Having run for over 1,200 yards at Arizona Western this past season, Scott Frost and company have been very interested in getting him to Lincoln. Bell faces the enviable task of winning a starting job over returning players.
Neither Tre Bryant, Devine Ozigbo or Mikale Wilbon did quite enough in 2017 to guarantee they would be the starters next year. While it’s a bit surprising the team is recruiting a JUCO back in this class, it’s apparent the Huskers are looking to reload talent quickly.
Many had hoped Woodyard’s commitment would draw Bell into the mix as well. The fear now is that Bell will like what he sees at Tennessee more and yank Woodyard the other way.
Neither player has said the situation has to be a package deal. It’s still interesting to see teammates take more than one official visit together.
It appears there is enough of a bond there that the Husker fans should worry about what could happen. The good news, for Nebraska football fans is that both players are expected to sign with someone next Wednesday. Crossing your fingers couldn’t hurt.
