The new Nebraska football coaching staff has gone after a player they recruited at UCF.

The Nebraska football staff led by Scott Frost and company has been more than a little busy since they got the job. While the official press conference isn’t until Sunday afternoon, Frost is making the most of the limited time he’s got until the December 20 early signing day.

Several players came out on Twitter last night with brand new offers from the Cornhuskers. On Sunday morning, one more player announced an official offer.

This announcement came from four-star defensive back John Huggins. Huggins, until December 1 had been a commit to Florida State.

On Friday, he announced he was opening his recruitment once Jimbo Fisher announced he was headed to Texas A&M. Before it was announced Frost was headed to Nebraska, Huggins was considered a good bet to be heading to UCF.

It appears the defensive back is plenty happy to be getting recruited by the Huskers. Since Saturday night, it appears at least five players that were not on the Cornhuskers’ board have been offered a scholarship by the new staff.

The good news is that almost all the players the team is going after are among the best of the best. It appears Frost is trying to take advantage of his good press over the weekend to get some talented players into Lincoln.

While these brand new offers are quite exciting, NU still only has eight commits in the 2018 class. The early signing period is just a few weeks away.

It will be interesting to see whether or not the new coaching staff can lure in some players that the team wouldn’t have had a shot with before. One thing is certain. Scott Frost is definitely bringing some excitement to the Nebraska football team.
