The Nebraska football team might be announcing more than Scott Frost’s hire tonight.

Right around halftime of the UCF-Memphis game, rumors began swirling that Scott Frost was not only coming to the Huskers but he had most of the Nebraska football staff in place. The rumors actually claimed that Frost already had “90 percent” of his staff set.

The UCF coach leaving the Knights at the end of this season has been the nation’s worst kept secret for a couple weeks now. The only questions that have been left is when the announcement would come, when he was officially leaving and who was coming with him.

We still don’t know exactly who is going to be leaving UCF but it’s bound to be a few of his better assistants. 90 percent of his staff being set could also mean guys like Trent Bray, Keith Williams, and Donte Williams are going to be coming back to the Huskers.

Bray has been “in place” since the rest of the staff was fired. Cornhuskers’ athletic director Bill Moos chose to make him the “interim” head coach in order to have someone at the helm while the coaching search went on.

Rumors that someone in the athletic department is calling recruits and giving them the news that they will “be happy” with the new staff seems to hint Bray might be on it. It seems unlikely he would be that effusive if he also knew he was losing his job.

It’s also possible Bray isn’t the one making the calls, but that would beg the question as to who was. The good news is that the mystery of who is going to be at Nebraska when the smoke clears is likely going to be solved sooner rather than later.

Next: Scott Frost UCF buyout is a higher hurdle than most

Rumors have been running rampant for a while now that the Nebraska football team will announce their hire Saturday night. It would come as a shock at this point if it wasn’t Scott Frost.
