By all accounts, the Scott Frost to Nebraska football rumors became fact on Saturday afternoon. The timing of those leaks was … not good.

Scott Frost is going to be the next head coach for the Nebraska football team. After weeks of rumors and a week of “it’s a done deal,” being the talk of the college football world, it appears numerous sources have confirmed it to be fact.

Husker fans all over the country were alerted to the news during the UCF-Memphis AAC championship game. During overtime.

Yes, the leaks confirming Frost was leaving started hitting social media before the game was over. Whoever leaked the info has some explaining to do.

After the Knights won their AAC Championship in double overtime, their coach was asked whether or not he was headed to Nebraska. It’s a safe bet he knew it was coming at some point.

It’s also a safe bet that’s not the way the Knights’ head coach wanted to handle the news. If it turns out that the Cornhuskers’ athletic department is the source of these leaks, it marks an uncomfortable start to his regime.

If it was people in Frost’s camp leaking the confirmation, you have to wonder what they were thinking. As others on Twitter put it, “someone is getting fired.”

After the game, Frost was emotional. He was happy. He probably didn’t want his team to have to deal with losing their head coach literally right after they won to go to 12-0.

Husker fans can now start celebrating as well. They likely have their newest head coach. It’s a guy most have been wanting for a long time. Some have even been wanting him before Mike Riley.

At the same time, this whole process has been a weird one for a program not used to these kinds of rumor mills. One can hope that now that Scott Frost appears to be a member of the Nebraska football team we won’t have to go through this for quite some time.
