Nebraska football: Scott Frost says decision isn’t about the money
Potential Nebraska football coach Scott Frost added there are only a couple of places he’d coach.
Nebraska football fans who are still nervous Scott Frost might not be headed to Lincoln might be able to take solace in his comments Thursday morning. The UCF head coach appeared on a radio talk show with local station 96.9 and shed more light on his thinking during the “will he or won’t he” soap opera.
The comments left even those who interviewed him feeling as though he was saying goodbye more than anything else. Orlando Sentinel columnist and host of the show flat out asked Frost if he “wished the Nebraska job wasn’t open”
Instead of directly answering the question he responded, “I don’t know. There’s only a couple of places in the whole country that I would even think about coaching. Decisions come up and we’re going to have to make some hard decisions and I can tell you that it’s not easy.”

Frost seemed to also want to make it clear his thinking isn’t just about the biggest paycheck. “It’s not all about money for me. It never will be. The quality of life here is second to none and these players are like family to me.” Most who heard those comments seem to think he doesn’t want to be seen as leaving only because of a bigger paycheck.
The comments in general, especially laying out there are only a “couple of places” he’d coach appear to be a rationalization for a departure. Frost has handled the rumors of his leaving UCF as well as could be expected. He’s picked and chosen his words carefully.
For the most part, his quotes tend to sound like he’s slamming the door on leaving the Knights until you delve deeper. Lots of carefully worded denials have come in the last few weeks.
For his part, the man that really got the hubbub going regarding Scott Frost to the Nebraska football team still thinks it’s all over but the official announcement. In fact, Anderson has gone so far as to say the assistant coaches are house shopping.
