Are members of the UCF coaching staff packing up and getting ready to make a move to the Nebraska football program? Tampa media says yes.

Nebraska football fans have been planning on welcoming Scott Frost home for weeks. Now it appears local media near the UCF program is planning on saying goodbye.

Ryan Bass, who is the sports information director for CBS Tampa recently gave an interview to Nick Bahe of 1620 The Zone. In that interview Bass, who is a UCF alum said in no uncertain terms that Frost and a lot of his staff are “preparing for a move.”

Bass said he was told the staff is getting to go earlier Monday morning. This includes “finalizing paper” Bass made it clear he hasn’t heard from Frost or anyone really close to Frost that a move was coming, but people at UCF are getting ready for the coach’s exit.

This interview comes on the heels of Frost’s weekly press conference, where he made the comment that he would be “hurt” if Nebraska didn’t want him because of how well he’s done this season and because he’s “from there.”

The UCF head coach also added fuel to the rumor mill during a teleconference Monday morning where he was asked flat out to “bat down” rumors he was coming to Nebraska. Instead of saying he was definitely staying with the Knights, he reiterated that the focus was on his team and the AAC championship game.

Perhaps the most interesting tidbit for those who have felt the Huskers and Frost have been in some kind of contact for a while now, is the issue of a purportedly generous contract extension. During Bass’ appearance on 1620, he said UCF made a strong push to keep their coach.

The reporter said there had been a contract extension in front of Scott Frost for at least the last three weeks. That fits the time frame as to when the Nebraska football administration began sending out overtures to the former Cornhusker quarterback.
