Chris Jones got attacked on Twitter by a ‘fan’ after the Nebraska football loss on Saturday

Nebraska football fans love to claim anyone and everyone who plays for the Huskers is part of a family. It’s likely that Chris Jones would say the family is a bit dysfunctional these days.

After the Cornhuskers loss on Saturday evening to the Northwestern Wildcats, Jones got to see the truly worst part of social media. The defensive back, who spent the first part of the year injured and who battled back, ahead of schedule in order to help his team got called out by a “fan.”

It’s not entirely clear why @DannyRichter decided the defensive back was the one who needed to be singled out. It’s also not clear why he feels Jones needed to pack his bags and leave town.

What is clear is that after the fan showed a complete and total lack of class, Jones did the opposite. The Cornhusker defensive back reacted in a way it’s safe to say very few of us would have had the strength to do. His only response to the fan? “I will pray for you man.”

It is, unfortunately, safe to say this isn’t the first time Jones and other Nebraska players have gotten person abuse. This is just one of those times when other people were around to see it.

It’s a statement on just how ugly things have gotten in Lincoln and unfortunately, Twitter has turned into a way to say things no one would say to someone in person. It also shows a sense of entitlement some Husker fans are now feeling about how they are allowed to talk to the players after a loss.

Nebraska football fans love to claim they are the best fans in college football. While this guy is just one fan, he’s not alone. This is the kind of thing that has to be called out and has to be rejected. It can’t happen, whether the Huskers win or lose.
