Top Nebraska football recruit likes how coaches would use him in defensive scheme

Now the Nebraska football team just has to wait and see if Micah Parsons likes the plan enough to become a Husker.

The Nebraska football team is still in the running for Parsons, even if it doesn’t appear they have a great shot of getting him. According to a recent report by Rivals, Parsons talked about several schools he’s looking at and had positive things to say about his relationship with Cornhusker coaches.

Among the things the 5-star defensive player learned during his recent visit, was just how Husker coaches plan to use him in their defensive alignment. The recruit says he was told he would mostly play the “CAT” position and that he would be moved all over the field.

Parsons seemed to like the idea of lining up at different spots. He also liked the relationships he’s forged with coaches like Trent Bray. The linebackers position coach got high praise from Parsons for coming to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to watch the defensive end play.

“The fact that he came all the way out here to watch me play three-quarters of a game means a lot. It means he actually cares about me and my well-being.”

Parsons also made it clear the uncertainty as to whether Bray and the rest of the Cornhusker staff will be there next year is weighing on him. He told the website that he knows the school got a new AD “so we’ll know in a few weeks.”

It could end up being the coaching situation that pushes Parsons away from the Nebraska football team once and for all. It was always going to be hard to pull him away from Penn State but it looks like it will be darn near impossible if Mike Riley and company don’t make a return to Lincoln in 2018.
