Tim Jankovich

After a long career as an assistant coach both before and after his first head coaching job at North Texas, Jankovich took over at the helm at Illinois State.

In five years with the Redbirds, he turned in four 20-win seasons and four NIT berths.

In 2012, Jankovich left to become the associate head coach at SMU under Larry Brown.

As the coach-in-waiting, he helped achieve three straight 20-win seasons and two postseason appearances including one in the NCAA Tournament.

This season was his first year as the head coach for the Mustangs. He led the team to a 30-win season and an NCAA Tournament berth.

As a result, Jankovich took home 2016-17 American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year honors.
