JoJo Domann, Safety

The Huskers got a nice two-year haul from the state of Colorado when Domann joined 2015 defensive backs Eric Lee Jr. and Avery Anderson at Nebraska.

Domann was ranked lower than Lee and Anderson, but he was named Colorado’s Gatorade State Player of the Year in 2016.

Domann hasn’t seen much of the field outside of special teams yet, but don’t let that fool you. The 6-1, 200-pounder could be in prime position to push older players like Antonio Reed, Kieron Williams and Aaron Williams for playing time at safety.

With all-star senior Nate Gerry likely on his way to the NFL, a big hole opens up for competition.

There are plenty of capable guys to fill that spot, but some might be overlooking Domann as a contender. Most fans probably think the starters will be Aaron Williams and either Antonio Reed or Kieron Williams.

However, Domann might have a unique skill set that is hard to match.

Though he is playing defensive back, Domann was listed as an outside linebacker in high school suggesting that he would be naturally good against the run.

He’s been showing in practice that he’s a force against the pass as well (see link on the next slide).

If he keeps it up, that kind of versatility might make it tough to keep him off the field for very long.
