Yes, that’s right. Maybe you saw it coming, but Zac Taylor’s successor would be the ultimate blast from the past for Mike Riley’s offense.

Despite having to be at the helm for the quagmire that was the 2007 season of Nebraska football, Ganz showed that in…whatever offense you want to call Bill Callahan’s, there was an opportunity for passing quarterbacks to do significant damage.

During that tumultuous time, Ganz would actually sit behind Arizona State transfer Sam Keller before he was injured and it was time for No. 12 to step up.

Through the remaining three games of the season, he completed 58.6 percent of his 152 passes for 1,435 yards, 16 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Given, his starts resulted in a 1-2 record, but he threw for 405 yards against Kansas, 484 against Colorado and 510 against Kansas State.

After Callahan was fired and the…unpleasantness was put behind Husker Nation, Bo Pelini would take over and had the opportunity to utilize a quarterback that was already primed to lead his team.

As a result, Ganz played 13 games in 2008 completing a whopping 67.9 of his 420 passes.

Langsdorf wants accuracy?

Think of Ganz throwing to Nebraska’s current corps of receivers or even some from the past few years.

He would end up throwing for 3,568 yards as a senior with a 25-to-11 touchdown to interception ratio.

Currently the tight ends coach at Youngstown State, perhaps his knowledge could be put to better use tutoring those throwing bullets.
